Academic

The current state and nature of contemporary technology necessitate interdisciplinary approach in all scientific ranges. Programme formations and curricula at the Institute derive from awareness of national and international needs, contemporary and future technologies, and knowledge, experience, and expectations of the industry. The educational outlook of the Institute seeks to integrate instruction with research and imparts the essential concepts of the sciences in the framework of this integrated approach. Theory and practice are thus combined in a creative environment at once fostering capacity for team-work and initiative. The language of instruction at İYTE is English. The majority of degree programmes are master’s and doctoral programmes of an interdisciplinary nature. The mission of the institute foresees strong undergraduate programmes in the fundamental sciences and interdisciplinary concentration on the graduate level. The spectrum of undergraduate departments was established accordingly, as were the programmes at master's level, and in a second step, the doctoral level. See the overview of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.

İYTE Alumni/-ae Association

İYTE-MED, the İYTE Alumni/-ae Association, was founded to serve the co-operation of İYTE graduates and to assume fundamental role in their development after graduation. Commencing activities on March 15th, 2005, it has been publishing the electronic İYTE-MED Bulletin which offers news about alumni/-ae and the campus. The Association aims at developing a 7-acre forest, 1.5 acres of which are planned for completion by 2006. The development is called Project Forest Hope. İYTE-MED functions as an interface of graduates-university-the world of business & industry and thus contributes to career development and continued communication after graduation. It equally targets the organisation around common goals of those who wish to contribute to İYTE’s development.

Distance Learning

The Centre for Distance Learning is dedicated to enhancing learning and addressing the specific needs of the learner who, in this case, is situated in a nontraditional environment where he/she is physically separated from the instructor. We work with client companies to develop specialised curricula that address strategic corporate goals. Flexibility in the plan of study facilitates customisation to meet the needs of the workplace. Our course scheduling is demand-driven, so the courses our students need are available on a regular basis. We emphasise the specific needs of the engineering workforce and enhanced access to courses through the Internet and computer-based technologies.
Centre for Continuing Education

In order to respond to the speed of scientific development and the necessity for specialists in divergent fields to collaborate to implement scientific research as technology, this Centre was founded in November 2001 to offer the community of industrialists, investors, engineering and scientific plant managers the results of contemporary and current research through a variety of courses at the downtown campus of the Institute.
